-- From Secretary's Desk
Dear Colleague,
I welcome you to Bihar Orthopaedic
Association Website.
One year has passed before I realized that I
took over the charge of Secretary of our about four decades old prestigious
association. I thank you all for your good wishes and rendering your support to
me.
I am glad to
inform you that number of consumer cases has reduced a lot in past two years.
This is because of drive we started 3 years back to make our members understand
that any controversial statement made by them may put other members in
unnecessary consumer cases and to make them understand that we should discuss
only about the problem with which patient has come for the opinion and should
discuss what is to be done now with the problem which the patient is having at
that moment. I must thank most of our senior members who did a lot for this
reason.
There is need for
more coordination between centre and periphery. Now, in periphery most of the
cases are dealt with because our learned members have gained expertise to deal
such problems. But at many centres facilities which is required to deal with
complicated cases is not adequate. We require more academic interaction and
centre periphery meetings to discuss open-heartedly about the problems.
Documentation is
another very important matter for our daily professional practice. We should try
to put everything in black and white and if possible, first hand photograph of
patient should be preserved for future reference. This will also help us to face
many disputes regarding treatment given at that time and also it’s follow-up.
I take the
responsibility that number of our members is not increasing proportionately. To
increase this number, I would request our senior and existing members to
initiate & promote new orthopaedic surgeons of their area who have recently came
fresh from their institution and have started practicing orthopaedics. This in
turn will encourage them to become member of our esteemed association.
There is need for
more city orthopaedic clubs where scientific programmes should be organised
regularly, preferably at least monthly meeting of club and during the meetings,
members of that place can sit together and discuss their recent problems among
themselves.
Long Live BOA
With warm regards
